This is the research journal for British sound artist Mark Peter Wright's work; A Quiet Reverie - an audio exploration of site, solitude and perception. Awarded the British Composer of the Year in Sonic Arts, 2009.
A Quiet Reverie is an audio exploration of site, time, perception and landscape. The piece engages the listener in a sensory/perceptual appreciation of phonography and the art of field recording. The term 'Psycho Phonography' will be used to define the work.
The project focuses upon the once sacred spaces of monastic abbeys in North Yorkshire. The sound work explores ritual, solitude, silence, landscape and architecture.
A Quiet Reverie is a psycho-phonographic sound piece, a phenomenological experience and mode of aural and imaginary awakening.
